Welcome to the
Port of Washington Yacht Club Site

Welcome to the Port of Washington Yacht Club and the 2008 Boating Season!

Next event: 32nd Annual Blessing of the Fleet

Noon, Saturday, May 17, 2008 at the Washington Channel-Gangplank Marina

Please feel free to browse around the site, purchase from the ship store and/or contact us if you are new to the area looking to join a fun, vibrant bunch of people to enjoy the river with. Or even if you are from another club passing through and want to join an event!

The Port of Washington Yacht Club (POWYC) was formed in 2002 to bring boaters together for several reasons. We promote safe boating and work for a clean, attractive, environmentally healthy marina and river system. Of course we also organize cruising and social events to destinations on the Potomac River and beyond for the benefit of all yacht club members.

POWYC is affiliated with the Potomac River Yacht Clubs Association, Chesapeake Bay Yacht Clubs Association and the Yachting Club of America. These affiliations offer members reciprocal privileges at hundreds of yacht clubs throughout the United States.

Currently we have over 120 members consisting largely of boaters in the Gangplank Marina, including live-aboard and recreational boaters. There are also full-time cruising members as well as associate members who do not currently own boats but enjoy the benefits of belonging to a vibrant, fun club.

On this website you will find information about the club; announcements, a calendar of events and other useful links including contact information for the current Bridge members.  Please email us if you have questions.  Stories or cruising logs to share with other members via the website or our newsletter are most welcome!

Thank you,
Brian Thompson

P.S. Each Sunday we hold ‘Captains Coffee’ on A-Dock which is a good way to meet neighbors and other boaters in a casual setting.
